BWO Fishing Report 3/4/2024
OFFSHORE:
Our offshore fishing is really starting to turn on. I talked with Spencer Wheeless, one of our local fisherman last night. They fished Sunday and went to 100 feet of water to catch snapper, grouper and trigger fish they caught a limit of Vermillion snapper and a 15 pound red snapper they released. Another one of our locals, Dave Mason from Forgotten Coast Fishing had another good week as well, fishing in shore, reefs with Lane and Vermillion snapper along with triggerfish topping the chart.
INSHORE:
Well, our inshore fishing here is like the weather it seems to be getting better every day I talked with Capt. Doug Chason of DC Saltwater and he says the redfish are really starting to turn on in Apalachicola Bay. He says check out the skinny water after a good rain. I have heard a few reports of Spanish mackerel starting to trickle in, so it won't be long before that bite starts. Our local guides have had another great week captain Lee Thompson, of Shallow Sea Charters tore up the sheep head on live shrimp. Capt. Pete Barwick had a lot of happy customers with a cooler full of bee liners and Capt. Chris Lantz had another stellar week as well.
FRESHWATER:
Since we are on the subject of heating up, the freshwater bite is doing the same more reports coming in of catfish on the river using cut bait. Crappie Are turning on as well using live minnows.
Don't forget, turkey season is here. Stop in and see us before you hit the woods for all your hunting needs, be safe out there and tight lines.
