BlueWater Outriggers Fishing Report 7-31-2024
OFFSHORE: I talked with Dave Mason this week, he said the Mahi have really been picking up, trolling Rapala X Rap 12,and Rapala Magnum 15. You will want to start in around 80 feet of water. Congratulations to the Mexico Beach Artificial Reef Association for another successful tournament with well over 100 boats entered. This week's picture comes from Carol Cox of the MBARA. Thank you guys for all you do.
INSHORE: The water temperature has been running in the upper 80s in low 90s in some spots so the key is persistence. Try throwing a Mirrolure Poppa Mullet or live shrimp under a popping cork. We have been doing some night fishing and it's really paying off. A top water plug under a full moon is unbeatable this time of year. Chug Bugs as well as Yozuri Popper work really well. I talked with Capt Chris Lantz of Gettin Reel Sportfishing he's got this Redfish bite in the bag. They caught and released 23 on just one trip this week.
FRESHWATER: Bass fishing has been decent with bites coming off of frogs and jitterbugs. At first light, Buzz Baits are another good option. Catfish have been great on cut bait, Bluegill on crickets and worms if you're throwing artificial try Beetle Spins and Rooster Tails .If your fly fishing It's hard to beat a Bea Bea fly.
Closing: Gator season opens August 15, Scallop season opens the 16th. BlueWater Outriggers carries all of your supplies such as gator hooks and bang sticks. If your scalloping we have snorkel gear as well as flags and scallop bags. Don't forget to check your safety equipment, fire extinguishers, whistles, horns for expiration dates FWC Will be out there checking as well So until next week. Tightlines and don't forget those lanyards and lifejackets.
